Canvas Palette Showcase - Rage of the Brisgavi

Hello Realmrunners and welcome to another article going over one of my custom palettes!

With the release of Norso’s second chapter being the next thing coming up on the Achroma calemdar, I thought I’d revisit a couple of my custom-built palettes from the original set and its expansions. So here’s my custom Brisgavi faction list.

The overall strategy of this list is pretty simple; use your characters to try and maintain control of the board through combat until you are able to find one of the bigger resolve cards to seal the deal as, theoretically, your opponent won’t have anything to stop it at that point. Where this palette can struggle is the fact it’s heavily reliant on having a well established board to both maintain its own shards and attack the opponent’s as well as being a little slow to start with so your first turn won’t be as powerful as Achrom palettes from other realms but, with a decent setup, it can snowball. So let’s go through the cards themselves.

Achrom Breach - Already done quite an extensive article on this card here. Short version is it makes up for the loss of card draw when you’re forced to trade to gain shards and acts as a big drain resolve to win games.

Brynhild of Brisgavi - Good value character with 2 steal for a cost of 3. Giving all characters Rage has great synergy with the higher shard value characters and also increases the resolve of Brynhild’s Cookpot.

Gunner of Brisgavi - One of my favourite rares from this set; Amazing flexibility on the resolve, exponentially increasing gain when you need it and drain when you don’t on a 4 shard value body.

Cintimani Stone - Incredible card as already discussed in my Card Highlight article here, even better with the Object synergies in this list.

Dyrnwyn - Enables characters to attack Locations, with added value when attached to a character with Rage, while also being a source of gain.

Brisgavi Berserker / Brisgavi Hunter - Samr Troll names and have Rage built into them.

Brisgavi Raider - Samr Troll that adds to draw power, especially useful when Dyrnwyn is attached to it.

Eirik of Lacringi - Object Find & Dig in a single Action. Might not have a resolve but has good shard value for combat and trade fodder.

Brisgavi Cave Dwelling / Lacringi Forge - Locations that help Find the right cards for the situation.

Brisgavi Samr Totem - Increasing steal resolve based on the number of Samr Trolls you have out, can become a reliable source of shards if you can keep your characters around.

Brisgavi Axe - Decent strength Object that gives you the ability to erase some key locations during your opponent’s turn, thanks to Dispose, so they don’t get the resolve.

Brynhild’s Cookpot - Decent strength Object that can have a powerful resolve, especially if Brynhild of Brisgavi is out alongside it.

Corrupted Orium - Object you can use to hinder your opponent’s plays.

Orium Diamond - Good gain option in Object form.

Spider Silk - Makes combat harder for the opponent as it can give any character Poisonous in response to an attack.

Brisgavi Rage - Action that enables all characters to attack locations for the turn.

HAIM Shard Cache - It’s an Achrom palette so almost an auto-include.

Altermative cards you could include:

Solveig - Samr Troll name that can add to your draw power and is harder to remove when you establish a board.

Brisgavi Falls - Gives you the ability to Dig for a character if you need it back, good value being a steal 2 for 3 cost and also adds to your Location disruption.

Brisgavi Snare - Object that’ll make it harder to hit your characters, not quite as strong as Spider Silk in my opinion but still a decent option.

Brisgavi Totem Worship - Gives you some gain potential as long as you have a decent board state, especially if you have Brisgavi Samr Totem out.

Falling Stalactite - Gives you the ability to remove stronger characters which are often harder to remove for this list, outside of granting something Poisonous.
