Card Highlight - Countess Issadora Curdle

Hello realmrunners and welcome to a Card Highlight!

This time I thought I'd rewind the clock a fair amount and go right back to The Curse of Curdle Hill for this one, the original set that started it all, to cast more of a detailed light on a firm favourite Character that has been present for Achroma's entire lifespan; Countess Issadora Curdle.

You may well be wondering why I've chosen her to go over but hear me out; a lot of people will often mentally confine her to the occultist faction and merely see her as a powerful achrom Legendary but there's more to the self-proclaimed leader of Curdle than that. That being said let's address the more obvious synergies she has first.

Firstly, as an occultist Character, you can relatively easily Dig Countess Issadora Curdle out of your Dregs which enables you to use her as powerful Trade fodder that can essentially pay for herself the turn you want to deploy her whilst also making her a difficult card to permanently remove whilst Occultist Den is on the canvas.

Along with this, her shard colours are also split chroma & achrom meaning she will add to the power of both Arabella's Recipe's and Achrom Blast's effects as well.

Where you may not have considered her as much is at the helm of a more Character-focused palette, whether it be achrom or chroma leaning given that her resolve steals shards. There are two cards that you can put in Salum palettes that can help you get to Countess Issadora Curdle a bit quicker, those being; Peorth and Murky Manor

Both require you to forgo running any other achrom shard cards to guarantee you'll hit the right cards consistently, which does mean you lose access to some other options like the previously mentioned Occultist Den as well as some utility cards like Rabid Dog, Cintimani Stone and Hostile Takeover, but it then gives you up to 3 chances to see her in your games, one of which deploys her for cheaper than her standard cost and drains some shards from your opponent as a bonus.

The flexibility of her resolve means that she finds a good home in any palette, regardless of its win condition, plus Salum has several ways to build Character-heavy builds that can go very wide very quickly as well that aren't necessarily occultists. The only real major drawback to Countess Issadora Curdle is the fact she has a hefty cost at 6 shards so, if you end up taking a lot of hits to your Shard Bank, or focus more on draining than stealing or gaining shards with your resolve effects, you might find there are times where she's difficult to deploy without Trading other cards to help you do so. I think most of us can agree though.... she has an incredible alt art that makes her look so much darker!

That's all from me for now guys - if you want to pick up any of the product currently available on the Achroma website, don't forget to use the code ACHROMACRAIG10 when you checkout for 10% off your purchase!

See ya real soon folks!
