Achroma 2025 Roadmap - A rough breakdown
Hello there realmrunners and welcome to you all!
With the 2025 roadmap recently being shared by the Achroma team I thought I'd go over what they're talking about and put my own thoughts and feelings out there on it all.
Winter
Here they're looking at rolling out the Chapter 1 booster products - this will see all 4 chronicles, along with the Rise of the Realm Runners expansions, dished out into randomised boosters rather than the pre-done Unlimited boxes that were originally available before. While there has already been a lot of back and forth on this subject and the pros and cons of it, it's the way all of us TCG players have seen cards being released for a very, very long time in other games so I can understand the shift in product style from their perspective. On the plus side though boosters will contain a mixture of unlimited, first edition and alt art cards in them so, even for the more experienced players, there's still good reason to grab them.
As well as boosters providing some great prize support for any LGS run events, which we'll touch more on later it also opens up the new draft format for Achroma, called Realm Rift. Something I'll touch on in more detail another day, if you are interested in learning more you can find all the information on the official website here.
Spring/Summer
We should be seeing the much anticipated release of The Monsters of Norso, the 2nd chronicle in the Norso realm, which I personally am very excited to get my hands on after all those spoilers released over the last couple of months!
Autumn
Something new, that very little has been spoken about so far, to tie up the Chapter 2 series - HAIM Initiative. This seems to coming at a similar time as the Rise of the Realm Runners expansions came out but, until further notice, there's nothing big to go on regarding this. We know, from some lore in Norso collectors boxes, that HAIM are a realm-traveling organisation that are particularly interested in the Norso realm and further inquiry into the current Characters we have brings up the name Grayson Haim, father of the realmrunner Hissano. But that's all we have to go on. If you look at HAIM on the website's wiki page, there is currently a blurred out passage titled 'Achroma Legends of Chapter One'
Aside from these headline goals there's several other things they're looking to roll out throughout the year;
- An updated companion app - this is something that will really benefit the game given that was a big advertising point of it just over a year ago
- Organised play support - having a set LGS support product that will make it easier to get 3rd party stores involved in building Achroma game communities
- New Adventure game - this was once attached to the companion app but was removed with the view to create its own unique one, its was essentially a fun text-based RPG style game that had multiple paths but was only in Salum on its initial release
- New store "portal" & website relaunch - recently the main Achroma store has been joined up with the Five Realms website, so this tells me they're looking at revamping it a bit before they year's out, maybe to coincide with the launch of The Monsters of Norso?
- New Affiliate Program - this one has already been rolled out, it's mainly just a bit of a rebrand at it's become the Five Realms Gaming Lounge Affiliate Program but honestly, if you're already a gaming content creator or you're looking to get into a bit of content creation on the side and think you can help spread some joy and excitement about the game, definitely give it some thought. There are several of us within the community already but we would always love to see more people join in!
- Upgraded Achrometer - this is one of the highly unique aspects of the game of Achroma that is how we, as a community of players, essentially drive the main story through the chapters. Every new release so far has become a big brawl of Chroma versus Achrom and whoever claims the most wins becomes the canonical winner in the story which also has some impact on upcoming cards in the next set.
- Community Engagement - it's no secret the connection between the community and the Achroma team has been a significant challenge of the past year, but they're got their sights set firmly on becoming more present at events once again to get the game more exposure, much like they did throughout 2023, and building on the use of their social media channels more so keep your eyes peeled for updates coming from them soon!
What do you guys think of the roadmap they've got lined up for 2025? Are you excited for some new releases or seeing some older features get a well-deserved revamp and spruce up?
That's all from me for now guys - if you want to pick up any of the product currently available on the Achroma website, don't forget to use the code ACHROMACRAIG10 when you checkout for 10% off your purchase!
See ya real soon folks!
