Canvas Palette Showcase - Dragons of Altari

Image
Hello and welcome to you all Realm Runners! Today I’ve got another of my custom palettes for you guys, this time using all that amazing Dragon support from all 3 Draco realm products we’ve received so far; Seige of Draco Temple, Last Snow Dragons of Altari and Dexter’s Dragon Riders. This palette aims to do what dragons have always done since their initial release; put down a lot of characters and benefit off having all of them down with some big resolves and effects. In total there are 12 Dragons in this list, with Cyan shards also featuring heavily, and a decent amount of Red, to make Chroma Storehouse another source of big gain when deployed. There’s also a little nod to Freese as a sub-theme with Harusk & Valli caves giving you some effect control and Fibron there to turn it into full control by turning it all into erasing. So now let’s break down the cards themselves. Boomarshka - Big strength character that totally shuts down your opponent’s actions forcing them to rely on

Canvas Palette Showcase - Drake Haven

Image
Hello to all you realm runners! I hope you all had a fantastic festive period! Firstly my apologies for the unexpected gap in content; work ramped up a lot in that last week so was taking what time I could to rest.  With the GP now behind us and Dexter’s Dragon Riders just released, I felt it only right to get back into my custom palette articles with one of my most anticipated ones to finally get my hands on the new stuff for; Drake Tribal! The overall strategy is to use your Drake characters, and Achrom shards, to deploy locations with growing resolves so every card you deploy is making an even bigger impact especially if you manage to get multiple locations down. Alongside some useful control pieces help you answer your opponent’s plays.  Achrom Breach - Almost every permanent card in this palette has an Achrom shard on it so this card’s resolve can grow very quickly. Also good value piece allowing you to constantly get a card even when you have to trade that turn. Fibron - 4-cos

Card Highlight - Eirik of Lacringi

Image
Hello to you all Realm Runners snd welcome to another Card Highlight article! Today I thought I’d look into a card that has a very powerful status is any object-based palette in the Norso Realm; Eirik of Lacringi . Costing 4 shards and with no resolve, you’d think he’s not the most impressive character around, however his ability makes it well worth it. Having the ability to both Find and Dig for objects is incredibly valuable; it allows you to trade an object for its shards then deploy Eirik of Lacringi to get it straight back and a bonus object from your palette! Let’s also not forget all those incredibly powerful Realm Relics are objects as well, so this could easily grab you any of the following rare cards that can be very strong in the right scenarios. Let’s also not forget how this can synergise very well with all of those objects you use with Dispose abilities; Eirik of Lacringi gives you the ability to replay them for even more value, or at worst have them as trade fodde

Competitive Talk - Threat Assessment

Image
Hello to you all Realm Runners and welcome to another of my Competitive Talk articles, my final one before the Spirata Fall GT this Saturday! Hopefully by now you’ve got a solid idea of your palette list and have given it some thorough testing ready for the challenges to come. So this time I thought I’d go into something more playstyle-focused; Threat Assessment. In any competitive game it’s an important skill of any player to know how you can answer your opponent’s plays with the cards you have at your disposal. However it’s also important to consider the different ways that you’re able to do so and which way will net you the most value.  To best illustrate this let’s create an example scenario. Say your opponent has an Ignis and Vast Volitarus in play whilst you have Sorcerer Pifarius and Rabid Dog with a Fireball in hand. Now you could Fireball the Ignis then go to your resolve to protect your characters, holding back your Rabid Dog for another threat however it’s most like

Keyword Highlight - Shield Wall

Image
Welcome Realm Runners, to another Keyword Highlight article! Well this is technically just an update of an older article, but it’s had quite a substantial update so I thought I’d re-release it, so without further ado here is the revision of   Shield Wall. Here’s the new definition . So to highlight the main point to this one; it only applies when you are the one being attacked and it only increases the shard value of your Characters, not their strength. As an example; if you had Siv of Lacringi and Lacringi Miner out and your opponent attacked your Lacringi Miner with a Brynhild of Brisgavi ; your Miner would gain a shard value of 2, due to the Shield Wall in effect, and therefore survive the combat, however he would still only inflict 2 damage as his strength remains the same so  Brynhild of Brisgavi would survive.   If you are the player declaring the attacks then  Shield Wall does not apply to your characters’ shard values so you would just conduct combat normally, it is pure

Card Highlight - Bounce

Image
Hello to you all and welcome to another Card Highlight! This time I’ll be looking into a card from Spirata that has, at least for me, been on the cusp of being a staple with its fantastic versatility at dealing with threats; Bounce . At face value this card may not appear all that great, only returning a card to the hand doesn’t exactly achieve a lot in the grand scheme of things. However there are a few situations where this can play heavily in your favour. Firstly, when using this on a character, any objects attached to it are erased since the character they were attached to is no longer on the canvas; so if your opponent has stacked multiple items on a key character Bounce helps take back the advantage. This is especially useful if they loaded high strength objects like Cintimani Stone or Dr Hue’s Lab Coat  on them and you l cant deal with it through combat. Secondly, and probably most impressively, this card gets around Protection since it doesn’t erase the card. A particular a

Competitive Talk - Synergies and Strategy

Image
Hello to all you Realm Runners and welcome to another Competitive Talk article, designed to give you some help in preparing for your next big Achroma event!  This week, having already talked about  Custom Palette building  and  staple cards  you should play, I thought I’d bridge the gap and go into the subject of Synergy.  It’s something that should be at the heart of your deck building as it’s where the real power comes from. A perfect example of this is the infamous  Rayder  palette. Whilst every person’s build has some differences the overall theme is the same; use a combination of the numerous high costing cards to trade and lower cost cards that pay for themselves quickly, then fill the gaps with some good control cards like Sorrono and Carmella to give you ways to interact and counter your opponent’s plays. Of course this is a more technical example; synergy can be found in something as simple as just using the best cards from a faction or focusing on a keyword.  Let’s take a
