Chapter Analysis - The Last Snow Dragons of Altari

Welcome to the next Chapter Analysis guys - today looking at the follow-up to the fan favourite Draco realm; The Last Snow Dragons of Altari.

Chapter Overview

Where the first chapter was quite Typal focused, this one instead leans a lot heavier on its Keywords, Hunt & Freeze, and experiments with the idea of spreading them through both sides of the conflict. As is becoming quite typical of the Draco realm in general, although not all the Legendaries support the new Keywords, they are all very control-oriented.

Removal & Interaction

Both of the new Keywords in this chapter are heavily based on interaction with your opponent's cards so there's heaps I could put under this topic, however if you're talking generic removal pieces there's a few options that give you ways of Erasing troublesome Characters and Locations outright.

Aside from this you'd have to tap into one of the abilities previously mentioned, what's worth noting is there are some key ones that get around Protection as that can often be relevant.

Board Wipes

As far as full wipes are concerned, one Legendary in particular stands out as a delayed Character wipe.
On top of this there is one nasty combo you can potentially pull off involving a couple of the new Rares which will result in all of your opponent's cards being Erased; if playing multiplayer this applies to everyone else's board so it's even more powerful in that environment. This is made even more consistent and powerful by adding Materno’s Egg, from the Rise of the Realm Runners expansions to your Palette and playing only Harusk as a target for it.

Strong Resolve Cards

In terms of exponentially stronger Resolve effects and abilities there's only a limited number and they have relatively low ceilings compared to previous sets we've already covered which I put down to the heavier focus on interaction found in both of the Draco chapters as this allows you to control the pace of the game so that you're constantly outpacing your opponent no matter their win-condition. Although, that being said, with repeatable Freeze abilities to hand, you can get a strong source of Gain for very little cost if you can maintain it.

Chroma or Achrom?

Interesting debate to have in this set specifically as neither faction has a unique Keyword or focus, which you'd think would put them all on a level field however I find, looking through the set, that Chroma cards have a little extra synergy; with multiple cards whose Gain can climb much higher than the average Drain or Steal resolves can.

If you're liking the look of The Last Snow Dragons of Altari you can get them from the Achroma website in Limited First Edition. Its available either as a single set of two random Palettes or a full collection which will not only get you every card from the set but also a copy of the unique promotional location as well! As an additional note - when you combine cards from this set and The Siege of Draco Temple as well as Dexter's Dragon Riders, you can end up with some incredible custom Palettes!

That's all from me for now guys!

The Achroma store is currently doing an offer of 15% off the majority of their products with some even bigger discounts on bundles of The Warriors of Wishwell Unlimited boxes and their expansions to help you get ready for the next chapter, The Monsters of Norso!

See ya real soon folks!
