The Monsters are coming…. but what help can Wishwell be?

So Achroma has just announced that The Monsters of Norso, the final chronicle in the Chapter 2 series, will finally release on Halloween! So in the spirit of all things Norso I thought it would be helpful to being all the cards out from The Warriors of Wishwell and see what cards are likely to only become more useful with this next wave of cards in their realm. Whilst I know I covered a lot of this sort of stuff in my review of The Warriors of Wishwell as a set in itself, I thought it was worth a refresher as, let's be honest, it's been a while since Norso got any real love.

As I mentioned in a previous article, a lot of the interaction we currently have available for the Canvas format within the Norso realm is based quite heavily on combat; or is restricted to what it can deal with; or otherwise takes up a Rare slot. That being said it pays to go into a new set with an open mind so here's a few forms of interaction that, to me at least, stand out.

Although Hulder Tail Whip and Samr Smash take up a Rare slot they both act as powerful ways to remove cards, the former regains some, if not all, the shard you spent on it whilst the second is a complete one-sided board wipe which is always worth considering. Brisgavi Rage allows for much easier Location removal, provided you have a healthy board of Characters that can attack, Corrupted Orium can be a real thorn in the side of someone that's trying to build up their board presence and Lacringi Catapult can snipe smaller value cards, or give your Character enough of a buff to take out a bigger one in combat.

Also, on the subject of more generic cards, there's a couple of cards that are capable of gaining you a decent chunk of shards, namely Orium Diamond and Orium Twine which could well see more use with new cards coming as well.

One thing I'm sure all of us competitive-focused players can agree on is that Traders, which came out of The Warriors of Wishwell, are one of the real powerhouses, even after all this time even with other realms getting their second chapters; so I would definitely consider multiple cards from their faction to keep an eye on, particularly all those ones that's boost the amount of shards you get off of your Trades.

In regards to keywords there is very little we know so far about any new upcoming ones; rather interestingly the keyword Guard has appeared in recent updates of the Rules document as something that is ignored by Poisonous Characters so perhaps this is something coming in this next set? We'll have to wait and see but, if patterns from the last few second chapters are anything to go by, it's unlikely we'll see any support for the current keywords we have access to; Rage and Shield Wall; but that doesn't mean the new ones won't synergise with them somehow.

Official definition of Poisonous
