Chapter Analysis - Warriors of Wishwell

Hello Realm Runners and welcome to my analysis of the final main set to come out of the first chapters; the first set in the Norso realm and the first one I ever got; Warriors of Wishwell.

Chapter Overview

As a general rule the opposite factions in this set both have very combat focused keywords in Shield Wall and Rage whilst the neutral group take Trade to a whole new level as they’re able to do it multiple times in a turn.

As well as this there is a slightly different focus this chapter, when looking at the last few, as there is heavier object and character-type support here.

Removal & Interaction

As stated earlier, as this set is more combat-focused there are a few actions that give you some ways to interact with your opponents cards, however they are generally quite conditional, such as Hulder Tail Whip, Brisgavi Rage, Lacringi Way (for versus achrom palettes) and Falling Stalactite.

There is also the less obvious Lacringi Catapult which can both erase cards with lower shard values and allow you to attack over stronger characters.

Board Wipes

Warriors of Wishwell has in it arguably one of the strongest board wipes in the game; Samr Smash. Completely one-sided and hitting all cards apart from the higher shard value which, if its a character, Falling Stalactite from above can answer.
You can also utilise your characters with Rage to knock out multiple of your opponent’s characters, or locations if you deployed Brisgavi Rage, which can act as a pseudo board wipe in the right situations especially if you use Chieftain Snorre of Brisgavi, or other means of Protection, to help your characters survive.

Strong Resolve Cards

Unlike other sets, there’s no generically strong resolve card in the base set as they all have some condition that requires prior setup whether that be character-type based or a card in your dregs to get the benefit off of. That being said, at the right time, these cards can go off pretty hard. Here’s a few stand out ones.

You’ll notice the Lacringi faction in particular have most of these cards in their arsenal. Failing these this set does have its fair share of cards that replace their costs with ease such as Lacringi Miner & Lacringi Mines, which can also become a good source of shards further down the line.

Chroma or Achrom?

Within this set the main factions, the Lacringi and Brisgavi, are pretty well balanced against each other. Despite this I have to choose chroma here due to the neutral faction; Norso Traders are very much a force to be reckoned with on the constructed scene, being able to go from less than 10 to easily winning with the right combination of cards all adding shards and drawing on every Trade that you do in a turn, despite having very few built-in resolve abilities.

You’ll find all these cards in their respective factions’ Unlimited Edition boxes on the Achroma store. You can also get yourself the whole lot, plus the accompanying
Niimi and Hissano expansions, a copy of HAIM Shard Cache, a playmat and access to the TTRPG, Achroma Legends, in the Norso Deluxe Realm Box.
That's all from me for now guys!
