Card Highlight - Gunnar of Brisgavi

Hello to you all realmrunners and welcome to another of my Card Highlights!

Continuing to look to the realm of Norso I thought I’d look at one particular troll that stood out to me from early on in my time with Achroma; Gunnar of Brisgavi.

At face value it ticks a lot of boxes for being a very versatile card; it has a high Strength & Shard Value to do well in combat and for general trade fodder in a pinch. Also its resolve ability, that closely resembles the high potential Actions of Isaz and Peorth, is beneficial and within The Warriors of Wishwell itself, also quite easy to increase to a powerful level, especially given that the faction its part of has plenty of cards that have both cyan and achrom shards present on them.

But further to this, due to Gunnar of Brisgavi’s samr troll typing you can find him quite easily through Brisgavi Cave Dwelling or, if the need arises, Cave Expedition Revealing Brisgavi Cave Dwelling, making is surprisingly easy to access within Norso Palettes.

At the right moment Gunnar of Brisgavi is a card that can truly turn games in your favour, whether you need a boost of shards with a lot of cyan on your board or need to hit your opponent’s shard bank harder to knock them down a couple of notches, this is definitely a card best suited to correct timing to make the biggest impact. There’s very little in-faction support to Dig him back so, unless you rely on Cintimani Stone to give Gunnar of Brisgavi a second shot, you’ll find it a very expensive card to get back on the Canvas should it get removed.

The great thing about Gunnar of Brisgavi, as I stated at the beginning, is the versatility of his resolve. The Warriors of Wishwell already has a decent selection of cards that can allow you to use him for either purpose so this is a card that will likely always have a home somewhere in your Norso Palettes provided your colours are in there as it adds extra value to those cards.

The question is; is this isolated samr troll one to look out for further down the road with his versatility and The Monsters of Norso coming? Or will something bigger come along to take up that rare spot of your Brisgavi Palettes?

That's all from me for now guys!
