Custom Palette Showcase - Trolls on the Stock Market

Hello everyone and welcome to another Custom Palette Showcase!

On the topic of the Norso realm, I thought I’d take this opportunity to show my take on the, arguably, most competitive Palette to come out of the realm so far; Norso Traders. So here’s the list I use.

As you can guess from the name, the strategy is pretty straightforward; do a lot of Trading to bring yourself up to 30 shards. The recent rules change, which limits the amount you can Trade for in your Start & End steps to a maximum of 6 shards, has made a minor impact on this Palette however there are so many cards in here that either give you extra shards when you Trade or the ability to Trade outside of your Start and End steps that it doesn’t do as much damage to it as it may do other strategies. So let’s look at the individual cards from the list.

Knut - Strong prevent effect that turns all of your Trading into card draw so you’re really losing any resources by doing it, must have in any Norso Trade focused Palette.

Leif of Lacringi - Gives you a way of getting decent gain in a Palette that struggles with this outside of trading as there’s a lot of Locations in here. Relatively easy to get to in this Palette as well so can be relied on regularly.

Giant Centipede - Only really in here for the 4 Trade value that’s on a Character so easier to recur.

Magnus of Lacringi - Allows you to get back Knut of Leif of Lacringi if they’ve been Erased. Also grabs back Giant Centipede so you can Trade it again if that would net you more shards. Strength of 4 also allows it to beat through weaker Characters.

Flora Overgrowth - Legendary for the Palette. Mainly in here to help get to your real power cards like Leif of Lacringi, Lacgringi Gardens or Trader’s Lifeline. Base value of 5 also makes it a strong Trade option when necessary.

Lacringi Gardens - Being a Palette full of Locations this provides you with some good draw power, especially if Leif of Lacringi is on your Canvas. Can be deployed for less by Algiz and Cave Expedition and has a high shard value for Trading.

Lacringi Cliff Dwelling - Gives you the ability to Find Leif of Lacringi or Magnus of Lacringi as needed while also adding to Flora Overgrowth’s Resolve.

Wishwell Storehole & Wishwell Barrens - Allows you to gain shards through cards being drawn or Traded. You’ll be targeting yourself most of the time with these cards, unless you happen to be up against another player who draws a lot more cards.

Fishing Dock & Trader’s Pass - Both enable extra Trading during your turn. Fishing Dock can also help you potentially get to your key cards faster without costing you cards from your hand by filtering through the top of your Palette.

Algiz - Hits either Knut or Lacringi Gardens to give you some card draw options.

Cave Expedition - Gets to your Locations as they’ll be your main route to winning, especially usefull if it hits Lacringi Gardens at the right time to draw you a good chunk of cards.

HAIM Shard Cache - 5 shard value for Trading that can sometimes net you some surprise Achrom wins in the right circumstances.

Trader’s Lifeline, Load the Carts & Orium Twine - Extra Trade enablers. Trader’s Lifeline also adds to your draw power for the turn while Load the Carts gets you extra shards from Trading for the turn.

Falling Stalactite - Some interaction to take out higher value Characters that would be able to attack over your key ones like Knut and Leif of Lacringi.

The most interesting thing regarding Norso Traders is that you can adapt it so easily to your play style without heavily affecting the consistency, with that in mind here’s some other cards you could use.

Norso Totem - Another option for a Legendary. Powerful prevent effect that gives you back the shards you use deploying cards when they get Erased, worth noting however if Norso Totem itself is Erased or all of your locations are Erased at once you won’t get the shards back.

Orium Fracture - Another option for a Legendary. Likely to get to a higher Resolve than Flora Overgrowth and will hit most of your Locations.

Wishwell Market Stall - A very powerful Location, especially is multiplayer games. Chose not to run it here as this is designed for 1v1 and wanted the draw power from Lacringi Gardens more.

Hulder Tail Whip - Powerful generic removal option that can potentially regain you the shards spent to deploy and also high value for Trading, however does take a Rare slot.

Lacringi Way - Gives you more flexibility in removal without taking a Rare slot. Also has the ability to Erase Nocturno from your Canvas without forcing you to lose a Character to Combat, which can completely wall you otherwise (on some reflection I think I’ll be putting this in over Falling Stalactite because of this).
