Competitive Talk - Promotional Actions

Hello Realmrunners snd welcome to another Competitive Talk!

Today I thought I’d build on my last article about the promo Locations by going into a discussion around the Actions you could get by purchasing £30’s worth of product during each of the respective seasons on the Achroma calendar over the last year; namely Salum Spring, Draco Summer, Spirata Fall and Norso Winter.

At face value these cards make excellent ‘blank’ cards in your Palette. What do I mean by a ‘blank’ card? Well say you’re building a custom Palette and you’re stuck on 28 cards but you’re unsure what to add to make it up to 30; these cards slot in quite nicely as a filler for those slots if there’s nothing else you can think of that fits the spot. In terms of cost they’re all essentially free to Deploy, outside of some very niche scenarios, as they Steal the shards back that you spend on them. This means, although they aren’t great Trade fodder like HAIM Shard Cache, they are usable in Chroma strategies, as they’re not a drain on your resources outside of your Deploy limit, as well as being beneficial to Achrom strategies since they damage your opponent’s Shard Bank.

Further to this, however, most of the Realms have some deeper synergies with their respective promo Actions as well.

In Salum’s second chapter, Conjuring at Curdle Cove, we got Asa and Apollo; twin Characters who give you extra benefits from Deploying Actions so they’re are able to add to the effect of Salum Spring by either Stealing an extra shard or Gaining you a further two shards respectively.

In Draco’s first chapter, Siege of Draco Temple, we received The Lost Fairies; a Legendary Character that allows you to Deploy an Action for free per turn which turns Draco Summer into a small source of shards for you, although this isn’t as effective as other cards are with it it’s still a decent synergy to note.

In Spirata you have several cards that are able to reduce the cost of certain colours, including yellow and Achrom shards, meaning you can potentially make it so Spirata Fall costs you nothing to deploy so it’ll also be a small source of shards for you.

In Norso, at the time of writing this, there’s currently no direct synergies as it’s not a Realm that heavily focused on it’s Action cards, but that’s not to say that there won’t be something in the future so do keep it in mind as it might become a decent combo piece.
