Card Highlight - Jali
Hello to you all realm runners and welcome to another Card Highlight article!
This time I want to go into a card, from the Draco realm, that has incredible potential provided you have the slot to put it in your palette; Jali.
Already at face value this character has an impressive 4 strength, allowing it to beat over the vast majority of unsupported characters outside of legendaries from most other realms. On top of this its resolve is a steal 2 which, again, is a fantastic stat that means it'll pay for itself over 2 turns without any other help but by far what stands out for me here is its ability; when deployed you get to look at your opponent's entire hand and make them discard a card of your choice. Provided your opponent has a sizable hand at the time you deploy this card, this gives you all the information you need regarding what they are able to respond to, how their next turn will play out and remove the biggest threat from their hand at the same time! Most other cards similar to this, such as Caeruleum Draco, Floating Wasteland & Ancient Rules, either give your opponent the choice or do it randomly with you not getting to see anything from their hand despite costing a similar amount to deploy.
Being part of the Ailorous character type, Jali is searchable by Ancestral Call and recoverable by Ogul if you do so happen to want to keep recurring the ability multiple times.
The only thing that holds this card back on the competitive scene, in my opinion, is in regard to canvas format's deckbuilding rules; you are limited to only having 4 rares in your palette which means Jali is competing for space with the likes of the ever-popular Cintimani Stone as well as any powerful synergistic rares that you may feel you need more or provide more benefits to your overall strategy. If it weren't for this limiation it's safe to say that almost all Draco-based palettes would be sliding Jali into their lists; I know whenever I play with heroes ideas within Draco lists I will immediately consider this card regardless of whether I'm playing chroma or achrom as it can provide you with such a powerful advantage that it is easily worth the shards every time, save for those few occasions where your opponent has little to no hand left.
All of these factors make Jali an incredibly versatile rare for any Draco realm palette and, arguable, on of the strongest rares in the game; not only does it allow you to remove your opponent's resources in a unique and difficult-to-answer way, but it gives you extra information on what they are holding in their hand that can enable to you deploy your cards to get extra benefit out of them which gives you an incredible advantage over them, the only other comparable card from this perspective is Holder of Truth from the same set however, with this not staying on the board to increase your resolve, it doesn't have quite as versatile use as Jali, despite also giving you fantastic information on your opponent’s palette.
That's all from me for now guys!
