Canvas Palette Showcase - Morag’s Mechanics

Image
Welcome guys to another article going into more of the most recent set, Secrets of Spirata. This time I thought I’d explore the sub-theme that’s come from the Mechanical Revolution faction; a big focus on objects. I thought the best way to do this would be to show my custom palette I’ve put together, however its worth mentioning this is with me having access to all of the game’s current releases and it is only a slightly tweaked version with a few games’ testing so far so more changes can probably be made to it. So here’s my list as it currently stands. The overall strategy is pretty straightforward; use all the good object support to play them for cheaper & draw cards while slowly increasing the pressure on the opponents shard bank with my pumped up characters enabling me to decently control the board, until I’m able to deploy a big hitter card for the resolve, which there are a couple of options, to finish the job. Morag - Her ability already makes your objects much harder to r

Keyword Highlight - Menagerie

Hello realm runners and welcome to another instalment of my Keyword Highlights! Today I’m going into the other new keyword from Secrets of Spirata; Menagerie . So here’s the definition.  It’s a pretty simple concept this one; if you have 3 character types on your canvas then you’re able to trigger the Menagerie ability of your cards. Some characters count as two types by themselves, such as the Fairy Pixie Spiral Traitorius and the Mechanical Creature Surveillance B.O.T , which can allow you to trigger your Menagerie abilities sooner. You could also utilise Role Reversal to swap one of your weaker characters for a stronger one with a type you could never play in your palette like a Dragon or an Occultist. The key thing to note though is that a Menagerie ability can be used at any point in your turn. This is important to remember as it means any of the abilities that gain you shards can be done outside of your resolve step, giving you access to more shards if you need them or even

Card Highlight - Hoffel Brown

Hello guys and welcome to yet another Card Highlight article.  Continuing with the focus on the new set, Secrets of Spirata, this time I want to go into detail on a card that has really caught my eye as a powerhouse in almost any palette going; Hoffel Brown . Hoffel Brown utilises the new keyword from the set, Menagerie , which I’ll go into further at a later point; for now all you need to know is it means its an ability that can be used as long as you control at least 3 different types of characters and can be used at any point in your turn, like an action.  With this knowledge, along with the fact Hoffel Brown is already two of those types being a Fairy and a Teacher, you can see why he’s such a standout card. As long as you can fulfill the requirement he’s at least a +1 on the same turn you deploy him and after that he’s just pure gains at any point in your turn, so you don’t even have to wait until your resolve step to get the shards from him. If you’re building a deck that doesn

Keyword Highlight - Infest

Image
Hello to you all Realm Runners and welcome to another Keyword Highlight article! Secrets of Spirata is finally in players’ hands and with come a couple of brand new keywords to the game. Today I’d like to go into detail on the one that has stirred up a lot of questions straight away; Infest . As usual here’s the definition from the main site. As you can see this is quite a wordy one due to how it works so let’s break it down to make it easier to understand. Firstly, all Infest cards we currently have are characters and so you can play them as normal characters by paying their full shard value and having them behave like normal characters would. This does mean that you wouldn’t get any effect after the word Infest though. Alternatively, you can pay a single shard to deploy them onto another character, on any canvas, and Infest it meaning it loses its abilities and resolve entirely. This would then cause the abilities of your parasite to be active.  If a card is Infested,  the parasit

Card Highlight - Jali

Image
Hello to you all realm runners and welcome to another Card Highlight article!  This time I want to go into a card, from the Draco realm, that has incredible potential provided you have the slot to put it in your palette; Jali . Already at face value this character has an impressive 4 strength, allowing it to beat over the vast majority of unsupported characters outside of legendaries from most other realms. On top of this its resolve is a steal 2 which, again, is a fantastic stat that means it'll pay for itself over 2 turns without any other help but by far what stands out for me here is its ability; when deployed you get to look at your opponent's entire hand and make them discard a card of your choice. Provided your opponent has a sizable hand at the time you deploy this card, this gives you all the information you need regarding what they are able to respond to, how their next turn will play out and remove the biggest threat from their hand at the same time! Most other card

Keyword Highlight - Mount

Image
Hello guys and welcome to another Keyword Highlight article! With my recent article going over the intro set, Dexter's Dragon Riders, I thought I'd go into detail on the new keyword introduced in that set; Mount . The definition given to us is as follows. When it comes to combat, as the definition states, both characters are treated as a single card; this means if you have  Moscow  Mounted  on Snark  it attacks and defends as a single character with 4 strength and shard value. This would mean if they went against a 3 strength character then both of them would survive the combat. In this respect, cards with  Mount  operate in a similar fashion to objects by increasing a character’s strength and shard value however they are harder to remove through combat alone. Outside of this they are still treated as two separate cards with their own stats, resolves, etc; so if the opponent used something like Fireball  to remove one of them then the other would still remain on your canvas.
