Canvas Palette Showcase - Diversionary Tactics

Hello guys and welcome to another talk about one of my Custom Palettes!

Going back to Salum, after our slight detour last week, I thought I’d show you all my palette utilising a rather unloved legendary from A Conjuring at Curdle Cove - Captain Cassius!

This palette aims to combine the Magus Elite’s great ability to go wide with their characters with the Divert mechanic so that any targeting abilities will always hit the least optimal target possible. As well as a lot of cheap characters there’s several cards that benefit from having multiple on the canvas, so the end result is several cards doing a lot of gain meaning it takes several removal actions to counter, if they can get through the Divert setup that is. So let’s go over the individual cards and explanations as to why they’re in here.

Captain Cassius - Legendary of the palette, gives you loads of gain if you have a good number of characters out and even more if Hinkley the Navigator is out.

Detective Huxon - Gives you more gain the more cards you have on the canvas, also searchable in this palette.

Kelby Knotner, First Mate - Built in Divert and Protection that’s searchable.

Achrom Converter - Gives the palette a strong control card plus relatively easy to deploy with the higher location count

Von Ruthro House - Gives a good source of shards if you lose a rare or Captain Cassius, realistically this could be replaced by a lot of other rare options like Detective Vraxea or Isaz to find Captain Cassius sooner , if you dropped Magus Elite Defender, but I felt it still had a good home in here.

Hinkley the Navigator - Built in Divert that’s searchable and gives all your locations Divert as well which can increase Captain Cassius’ resolve. Also searchable.

Magus Elite Enforcer & Magus Elite Defender - toolbox Magus Elite characters, with more testing I suspect I’ll end up putting it at 2 Magus Elite Defender however the ability for Enforcer to take out a 6 strength character with Alchemist’s Tincture makes me want to keep it in.

Veil Chaser Engineer & Lone Survivor - Characters that draw when deployed, conditionally in Veil Chaser Engineer’s case but he’s a Magus Elite.

Ludlam City Guard - Cheap 1 drop to get value from other resolves.

Magus Elite Detective - 2 drop that can easily pay for itself and more when deployed at the right time.

Magus Elite Inspector - Searches a good chunk of the characters whilst being a Magus Elite character so benefiting from other resolves.

Galley’s Arch & Ludlam City Gate - High cost for trading with a good built-in resolve on top. Ludlam City Gate also doubles up as removal in some situations.

Bothy - Cheap location that allows me to give a key character protection, usually reserved for Captain Cassius or Detective Huxon.

Curdle Cave - Cheap location which combos with the strategy of going wide with characters.

The Veil Chaser’s Nest - Helps find other locations which then combos with Hinkley and Navigator, also enables the card draw action off Veil Chaser Engineer.

Alchemist’s Tincture - Helps find Achrom Convertor sooner, otherwise it’s still a nice little 2 strength buff for characters.

Fireball - Strong control action to round out the list.

So far in testing it’s performed pretty well, even versus a Freeze palette which I’m very happy with, so only some minor tweaks needed and I think it’ll be in a great place!

That's all from me for now guys - as always any comments, feedback or queries is always welcome either in the comments or on the Discord!
