Card Highlight - Dark Rainbow

Hello Realm Runners and welcome to another Card Highlight article!

Today we’re going to be looking into a real superstar card from the realm of Salum that has become one of the most powerful cards from either of the chapters released so far; Dark Rainbow.

From the off, no matter what your palette’s end goal is, it’s got a high cost on it which means it has great trade value for those times you need to boost your shards in a pinch.

When it comes to Chroma-based palettes, when you do deploy Dark Rainbow, it can result in a humongous amount of gain; the higher cost actually works in your favour because you’d realistically want to hold this card until your opponent, or you yourself, has deployed a lot of cards onto their canvas so you can really capitalise on it. This also goes really well with the theme of Chief Detective Cronas, Claus Von RuthroCara Curdle or Captain Cassius palettes as they all focus on having a large number of cards on your canvas to increase your gain in the resolve step.

For Achrom-based palettes it’s main use is as a strong gain card that then allows you to deploy more cards to put more pressure on your opponent’s shard bank. Depending on your situation you may also be able to utilise it to score some surprising Chroma wins, especially if your palette has a lot of steal potential. However let’s not overlook the fact that Dark Rainbow Curses all cards on a chosen canvas; this leads to some incredibly powerful set ups for huge drains from cards like The Bay of Mysteries or Moonveil Harpy, or even a real powerful turn where you steal all of your opponent’s cards with Release the Kraken to take the win that turn!

As you can see Dark Rainbow has an incredible amount of applications within your Salum palette; whether you’re going Chroma or Achrom you can always make use of it in some capacity and that’s what I’d argue makes it an absolute staple in any of this realm’s custom palettes.

You’ll find Dark Rainbow in the Moonveil Coven faction palettes within the second chapter chronicle of Salum - A Conjuring at Curdle Cove - which is a hugely popular First Edition so get it while you can! The first edition collection will guarantee you 3 copies of this incredible card!
