Canvas Palette Showcase - Ailorous on the Hunt

 Hello to all you Realm Runners and welcome!

Today I'm going to be showing the first attempt I've made deckbuilding with the newer cards released in The Last Snow Dragons of Altari - a Hunt focused palette;

I decided to go for an Achrom focus on this build, which might seem a little unusual as the actual Legendary that has the Hunt keyword, Bugir of Snivari, is more of a Chroma oriented card. However it's Achrometer season so.... got to represent the side!

The initial difficulty of Hunt is that it's a delayed action with a pretty strict condition - you select their character and at the start of your next turn, if both characters are still there, you resolve the effect. This means that, as a priority, you need to be able to protect and keep your characters on the Canvas to even get their ability to go off and then even longer if you want to repeatedly capitalise off of it. Let's look at the cards and why they're in here;

Kocora Bri - Legendary for the deck and, although he doesn't have Hunt on him, he does have a good Steal 3 on the resolve, potential board wipe (albeit slow but could be a blowout in multiplayer!) for those situations where you need to answer your opponent's board to keep them in check. Also an Ailourous type character meaning synergises with Ogul to give repeatable high trade fodder if needed.

Ogul - recycler of the deck, as stated above gives good access gain via trade, a 4 strength body to take out smaller characters if necessary and a +2 in the resolve as even Achrom decks need something to refill their bank consistently.

Wrathma - Probably the best Hunt card currently available, might not have the Ailorous typing to be easily recycled but a fantastic ability to erase 2 cards along with a -2 and a 5 strength body as well.

Hularla's Shrine - arguably, for me, one of the most powerful cards for a Hunt deck giving fantastic protection, nothing much more needs to be said about this really

Mist Mountain - reducing the cost of your Hunt cards whilst also a steal 2 in the resolve, not much more to say about this card really. In an absolute pinch, or late game once your Hunt cards are mostly played and you need more resources, also a decent trade for 4.

Dari - Draws when resolving and a steady gaining card. Only 1 in here due to factors of it being Heroic, the Palette is more Achrom focused and I can search it if necessary

Dark Hunter - Pretty much self-explanatory with this one; it drains & good hunt ability also 3 is a good base strength/value I find for playability and trade fodder in a pinch

Saran - Gets around protection on characters, only running 1 for the reasons under Dari above

Achrom Driller - a -2 when resolving the hunt for a 1 cost is a pretty sweet deal especially if you keep doing it! Also potential free drop with Mist Mountain out

Last Snow Dragons of Altari, Great Cloister, Kocora's Achrom Crater - All good steal resolve locations, Great Cloister also has a little draw potential on it which can come up sometimes. Realistically these are the main cards up for changing if better stuff is found

Impundulu Feather - Object to help keep my characters out, not a lot more to say about it. Prevent is a nice touch if vs another Achrom palette to reduce the impact they have on your shard bank

Ancestral Call - searches all characters bar Kocora Bri and Wrathma so pretty much an auto-include in any palette utilising Ailorous in any way

Breath of Fire & Claw Slash - good control cards, Breath of Fire also doubles up as decent trade fodder if in a pinch as well

Haim Shard Cache - Done a whole article on this card, if your palette is Achrom it's almost guaranteed to be in there: Card Highlight - HAIM Shard Cache (antinomy93.blogspot.com)

Meditation - draw card that synergises with the idea of keeping your characters and your opponents' on the board. Not 100% sold on its inclusion yet so time will tell

Tactical Ambush - instantly resolving your Hunt effects is fantastic! Only as 1 of for now however highly likely to go up to 2 as the potential value of it is amazing; absolute best case scenario (although very unlikely) you could - Draw a card, erase 3 characters & a location, bounce a character, get an Ailorous and -4 your opponent - all for 2 shards! Also doubles as a panic button if you know your characters aren't going to survive and you want to get their abilities off one more time.

Thermal Submerge - Recursion card, gives me ways to get back Wrathma and Ogul if I lose either of them

Forest Veil - Another protection-esque card; a lot of characters might be weaker than your opponent's so gives you a free turn unless they have removal to hand. In a multiplayer game also applicable as a way of stopping people attacking an opponent whose characters you've targeted for your Hunt abilities

As stated earlier this is only really an Alpha stage for now. There will almost certainly be further tweaks to it and, once the Achrometer event passes, I might even look at going more Chroma focused with it to see if that is any stronger.

That's all from me for now guys!
