Card Highlight - Magnus of Lacringi

Hello there guys and welcome to another Card Highlight article!

As we start to build up to the release of the Monsters of Norso I think it's fair we look at the Warriors of Wishwell set and its expansions and highlight some of the understated cards that may come up as real 'staples' between the two sets. I've already covered Eirik of Lacringi and Lacringi Catapult and where they can really shine so I think it's time to look at another of the Heroic Lacringi Characters; Magnus of Lacringi.

At face value there's a couple of boxes that Magnus of Lacringi already ticks off for me; with a Shard Value & Strength of 4 he's the perfect combination of a decent Trade option in a pinch as well as durable enough, as a Character, to survive most things outside of Actions that Erase cards entirely or Poisonous Characters and those suited up with Objects. Whilst his Resolve effect might not seem hugely impressive this is probably down to the fact that his Action can be an incredibly useful tool for multiple reasons.

Firstly there's the fact he can Dig for a Character that might be key to your overall strategy, such as those pictured, that you've lost on a previous turn. Then, if you've got the shards, you can get them straight back out onto your Canvas once again.

Outside of this, you can use Magnus of Lacringi's Dig ability as a way of givng you some decent Trade fodder later on down the line. This is particularly effective if you're using some of the cards from the Traders faction as you can net yourself some serious shards given the fact that Magnus of Lacringi is essentially a Dig ability for 2 shards come the end of the turn.

To add to this, you can also play the Location Lacringi Cave Dwelling as a way to Find Magnus of Lacringi if you need to get to him more consistently or if you find yourself running a few Hulder Trolls in your Palette.

Dig is a very powerful Keyword in the game of Achroma, mainly due to the versatility in what you can do with the card you get; from giving you a second chance with key cards for your strategy to providing you with almost free Trade fodder, so the more you can make use of Dig abilities of cards like Magnus of Lacringi the better.

You'll find Magnus of Lacringi, along with the other Lacringi cards I've already done a look into, in the Lacringi Shieldmaidens faction from The Warriors of Wishwell. These guys are currently still available in their limited edition Collector's Box too which comes with loads of little collectibles from the world of Achroma like badges, a book going into the lore of all the Characters and you also get both factions' Palettes in First Edition along with the namesake location promo from Warriors of Wishwell as well - if you know its the faction you want to focus on this is definitely a good grab to get while you can!

That's all from me for now guys!

The Achroma store is currently doing an offer of 15% off with some heavily discounted bundles of The Warriors of Wishwell and their expansions to help you get ready for the next chapter, The Monsters of Norso!

See ya real soon folks!
