Card Highlight - Sigrun, Vitki Elder

Hello realmrunners! Well although the new set is having some unexpected delays, I just feel like I have to jump right in with this card as it’s already shaping up to be possibly my favourite card from the set, if not the entire game so far, and that’s before knowing what else is coming! So here's Sigrun, Vitki Elder.

Already from the initial read, I knew this card had some real potential. Firstly it breaks the standard rules of Rebound by being able to return any card on either side of the Canvas to it's owners hand; not just your own, then on top of that, you gain shards equal to the Rebounded card's Shard Value which can be a huge boost, especially if it was a high value card that you can Trade at the end of your turn. Without even going much deeper into any other cards it synergises with, this immediately screams two things; fantastic and flexible card control, since it can Rebound your opponent's cards, and insane value out of a single card. Considering, ignoring its ability, it's already a strong +3 resolve on a 4 Strength body, but it can then Rebound cards to gain you even more shards. So even solo, this card is a force to be reckoned with and is very deserving of its Legendary status within the set.

So now let's jump into the inspiration behind me wanting to get this article out so soon despite very little testing being done, or many other cards with Rebound being known so far; a very well known realm relic that never seems to be out of the spotlight for long, if at all - Cintimani Stone

With literally nothing on your Canvas or in your hand; Sigrun, Vitki Elder in your dregs; ripping this card off the top of your Palette when you have enough shards to deploy it (provided your opponent controls a Character) means you can rebuild your Canvas and get right back in the game out of seemingly nowhere. From here you can play it on your opponents’ Character; Dig and Deploy Sigrun, Vitki Elder; then Rebound the Cintimani Stone, allowing you to use it again straight away to get something else back and end with, at least, a Character that has 9 Strength & Shard Value in combat that gains you 3 and steals 2 shards from your opponent. An even bigger bonus is if you can get another card out with a Rebound ability as you can then repeatedly use this incredible card’s Action multiple times; essentially re-playing every card from your Dregs over time, although that can get quite costly for your Shard Bank unless you get some massive value out of them all.

If you’re worried about losing Cintimani Stone, or relying on it so much, with it being a Rare card; some older cards from The Warriors of Wishwell have answers to that too. Eirik of Lacringi can both Find and Dig your Cintimani Stone, while Magnus of Lacringi can act as another way to get your Characters back; also notable these cards’ Actions can be repeated through the Rebound ability as well to boot! You can Find both of these Characters with Lacringi Cliff Dwelling which can, in turn, be Revealed by Cave Expedition; so there’s several avenues that can set this up, the only thing missing is an easy way to get to Sigrun, Vitki Elder but interestingly I’m not seeing any yellow shards on these cards so far, so you can at least double your chances of getting to them with Algiz

As you can probably tell, I am incredibly excited to see what this card can do in a custom Palette build. This is also all before we see what else is coming with the Rebound Keyword as well; who knows what other synergies we have yet to see. I never thought I’d see the day a Chroma-focused card got this much excitement out of me however, that being said, it’s safe to say this may well be one of my favourite cards to come out to date. Stay tuned as I can promise you it’ll be my first custom Palette I make once the full set is in my hands!
