Custom Palette Review - Cara’s Curdle Congregation
Hello realmrunners - I’m back this week with another dive into one of my custom Palettes, this time focusing on a very basic strategy headed up one of the first Legendaries to come out, Cara Curdle. Here’s the list.
The plan is quite simplistic really; throw down a lot of Characters back up with good control options to deal with anything bigger your opponent puts out and use your resolves that benefit off of your wide boardstate to hit 30 shards. Now let’s look at the individual cards.
Cara Curdle - Face of the Palette. She helps you double down on your resolves while giving you a lot of prevent and making it harder for Achrom cards to interact with your Canvas.
Detective Huxon - Gains you more shards the more cards you have on your canvas, perfect fit for this strategy.
Detective Vraxea - Gives your smaller Characters a bit more survivability or can even allow you to be more aggressive with them.
Rabid Dog - Poisonous Character to help with board control.
Sea Serpent - A little bit of Divert to help protect your key cards.
Veil Chaser Engineer - Pays for itself and draws you a card if you have The Veil Chaser’s Nest on your Canvas. Just the one as it requires setup but it’s possible to Find at the right time.
Lone Survivor - Card draw on a 1 drop, with Cara Curdle or Curdle Cave out it pays for itself too.
Luxmorn Villager - Pays for itself when deployed, also a nice little bit of Secret to potentially steal a key card from your opponent. Has a nice interaction with Detective Vraxea where you can use it every turn too.
Magus Elite Detective - With the bulk of Characters being Magus Elite it just makes sense to add this guy in to bulk up numbers.
Magus Elite Inspector - Helps you Find some key pieces like Detective Huxon or a well timed Veil Chaser Engineer.
Galley’s Arch / Rangled Wood - Simple Locations with strong gain resolves.
Curdle Cave - Gains you more when you have more characters out, fits in perfectly.
The Veil Chaser’s Nest - Helps you thin out other locations as the count is relatively low. Also synergises with Veil Chaser Engineer.
Isaz / Kaunan - With the way this Palette is built, these will both net you Cara Curdle and only cost you 2 shards too.
Occultist Influence - A steal resolve out of nowhere that’s based on how many Characters you have out, can snatch you some surprise Achrom wins or keep the pressure on your opponent so you can take the lead.
Otrix’s Talons - Character removal for when they’re just too big to take out.
Hostile Takeover - Location disruption so you can interact with them somehow if needed.
Some other potential cards you can play include the following;
Countess Issadora Curdle - With this being a very Character heavy Palette she would definitely give you a powerful resolve which would pull you into several more achrom wins. That being said you'd need to look into what Actions you were using and swap around a couple if you did make this switch.
Ludlam City Guard / Ludlam City Gate - The first replaces the shard you spend on it on the turn it goes down, the second works in combination with the first to remove an opponent's Character and gives you back the majority of the shards you spent on it to boot. Nice little combo, although expensive to deploy compared to some more key Actions within Salum.
Corrupted Muon Trap - I personally went for removal over this out of preference for the style, however there is a case to be made that playing this card instead would add to your resolve even further since it, and the Character you Claim, remain on the Canvas.
Fireball - A more flexible removal source, my only reason for not including it in my standard list above is my use of Kaunan as that could interrupt it deploying Cara Curdle.
That's all from me for now guys - if you want to pick up any of the Achroma product currently available on the Five Realms website, don't forget to use the code ACHROMACRAIG10 when you checkout for 10% off your purchase!
