Heroes Canvas Showcase - Drake Haven

Image
Hello guys and welcome to a something just a little bit different; Custom Heroes Palette reviews! With the guys at Five Realms now rotating the theme every Achroma Thursday, I thought I'd start to dive into the secondary format in the game now that it has a more regular home; Heroes format. I previously wrote a brief introduction to the format  here . To begin with I'll highlight my chosen Hero for the palette and what their ability is, as this is will, obviously, very much impact why I chose certain cards; the overall strategy of the palette; etc. So starting off with quite a simple concept, similar to one of my recent Canvas palettes I put up, is a Drake-based list with the Hero being Umbra Aqueous . As it currently stands, for a palette focused on Drakes, Umbra Aqueous ' ability is pretty much the strongest one for it, reducing the cost to deploy all of your Drakes without hurting their trade value incase that's needed. There is also the option of making a palette f

Chapter Analysis - Dexter’s Dragon Riders

Good day to you all realm runners and welcome to another analysis article. Bit of a change of pace to this one as, with Beachhead 2024 just around the corner which will most likely attract newer players to the game, I thought I'd go ahead and look through the set designed as a starter set for newer players; Dexter's Dragon Riders! As already stated this is intended mainly as a beginner product; something someone could pick up and use to get a basic understanding of the game by playing it against a friend. When going toe-to-toe you’ll find these decks quite fairly balanced for the most part. That being said there are a few cards in this product that stand out even within the already well established strategies within the Draco realm. Firstly this set introduces the keyword Mount  to the game whereby you can Mount  a rider onto an unmounted dragon or drake character so that, in combat, they are able to use their combined strength & shard value to erase stronger characters yo

Chapter Analysis - Rise of the Realm Runners

Welcome to you all guys to the next chapter analysis, rounding off the first chapter we have the numerous expansions I've touched on; Rise of the Realm Runners. Due to this being a collection of expansions for each realm I'll be structuring this slightly differently; I'll go through the new realmless cards and then the key cards from each realm and what they add to the original sets. Here we also got the introduction of Dispose  as a keyword which gives you the limited ability of reacting on your opponent's turn as well as Reveal  which gave us a more randomised version of Find  that also could be influenced to work as well as the latter depending on your palette list.   Realmless Cards This wave of support introduced a whole new type of card, dubbed Realmless, which could be used in any palette at all. These cards are currently among some of the most powerful due to their wide flexibility. Starting off let's look into the rifts & runes that come with each colo

Chapter Analysis - Warriors of Wishwell

Hello Realm Runners and welcome to my analysis of the final main set to come out of the first chapters; the first set in the Norso realm and the first one I ever got; Warriors of Wishwell. Chapter Overview As a general rule the opposite factions in this set both have very combat focused keywords in Shield Wall and Rage whilst the neutral group take Trade to a whole new level as they’re able to do it multiple times in a turn. As well as this there is a slightly different focus this chapter, when looking at the last few, as there is heavier object and character-type support here.  Removal & Interaction As stated earlier, as this set is more combat-focused there are a few actions that give you some ways to interact with your opponents cards, however they are generally quite conditional, such as Hulder Tail Whip , Brisgavi Rage , Lacringi Way  (for versus achrom palettes) and Falling Stalactite . There is also the less obvious Lacringi Catapult which can both erase cards with low

Chapter Analysis - Fall of Flutterby

Welcome to you all guys to the next instalment in my chapter analyses - this time going into one of the most competitive realms we currently have when it comes to Canvas tournaments; Fall of Flutterby. Chapter Overview This chapter brings with it some of the fastest keywords currently around with Splat  and Squish ; both function as ways to increase your cards' resolves as long as you control multiple cards on the canvas at once. Other than that this set also started to delve into the ability to reduce the costs of cards in your hand, allowing you to deploy cards for cheaper with the drawback of them having less trade value. As a result of all of this burst potential, the set does suffer from a lesser amount of control options; at least when compared to the previous chapters.  The legendaries of these factions generally follow the pattern of influencing the resolve, whether it be boosting it or blocking it. One area this set does excel is draw power with several cards replacing the
