Canvas Palette Showcase - Sea Witches’ Curse
Good day Realm Runners and hello to you all!
Today I’m bringing you another of my custom palettes, this time it’s one focusing on using the keyword Curse to aid your ability to drain your opponents shards away. This build does share several similarities with my Occultist palette, which you can see here, however due to it being focused on a specific keyword I find it has a more thematic feel to it. So let’s go over the full list.
The overall strategy of this build is arguably quite risky; you want there to be a lot of cards on the canvas, whether that be on yours or your opponent’s, to get the most drain you can out of your bomb plays. However allowing your opponent to establish a board can mean they start to out-do you in the resolve so it’s important to make good use of your control cards to help keep them from going too far. To help towards this I’ve included a good amount of inherently Cursed cards so that you can still get a limited benefit without having to deploy Dark Rainbow or Pearl. So now let’s take a closer look at the reasoning behind the cards.
Pearl of Culuda - Legendary of the palette, has the ability to mass-Curse multiple cards across multiple canvases and can erase problem cards if necessary. Also has a nice trade value and recurrse of The Bay of Mysteries.
Otrix, Siren Returned - Good strength of 4 and her ability can give you a way of getting around problem characters, by crashing them into stronger or equal strength ones your opponent has, or stealing them to benefit off their resolve for yourself.
The Bay of Mysteries - Potential to have a very powerful resolve & recycles all your Sea characters, which is most of them. Also allows you to use your characters as trade fodder to gain shards.
Cintimani Stone - Needs no real explanation, one of the best cards in the game.
Peorth - It’s an achrom deck that benefits off having a lot of cards on the canvas… explains it enough I think.
Ezili Algae - Searchable off Darkwater Selkie and enables you to turn opponent’s characters into 1 strength ones with no resolve if necessary. Also gives you ways of putting Moonveil Harpy in your dregs when attacking isn’t an option.
Moonveil Rider - Inherently Cursed, Curses when deployed and can deal with locations if needed.
Darkwater Selkie - Finds/Digs Ezili Algae and perfect to swap onto your opponent’s canvas. Worst case it’s a 1-drop Cursed card.
Moonveil Harpy - One of the bomb cards; inherently Cursed, recyclable with The Bay of Mysteries and its action can hit for a huge drain.
Road to Ludlam/Cove Caves - Cheap steal locations that synergise with the actions. Good targets to Curse if your opponent has nothing or their cards are already Cursed.
Culuda Dwelling - Inherently Cursed stealing location that Curses when deployed.
Corrupted Muon Trap - Amazing control card and counters anything with Protection.
Dark Rainbow - Mass-Curse card, can sometimes get you surprise Chroma wins as well.
Fireball - Staple control card for getting rid of trouble cards.
HAIM Shard Cache - High trade value that can add that little bit more steal.
Achrom Blast/Arabella’s Recipe - Bomb actions that can potentially end games out of nowhere.
As you can probably tell I went for a more Action-based win condition, much like my Occultist palette, with Curse being a strong aspect to help towards this as well. However there are some changes you could make to focus more on the Curse aspect of it.
Peorth for Bahari of Culuda - With more Curse cards at your disposal, Bahari’s ability will mean your characters are harder to erase.
Road to Ludlam for Shipwreck - Cursed location that Curses when deployed as well.
Cove Caves for Coral Crown - Object that allows you to Curse a card once per turn. Also has a good drain resolve on it.
Arabella’s Recipe for Servant of the Sirens - With a lot of the mixed shard cards being taken out, Servant is an inherently Sea character that only costs 1 to deploy so will probably have a better synergy with the overall palette.
That's all from me for now guys! If any of you have a custom palette you’d like me to go over feel free to send it in to me along with an overall description of what the strategy is behind it.
