Full Sneak Peeks - Leif & Drengora the Fierce

 Hello realmrunners and welcome back. Well The Monsters of Norso is now literally only 3 days away! As a little teaser to get all of us geared up tor it, I’ve been sent a couple of complete card spoilers to share with you all. So without further ado here are 2 of the new cards coming at you in The Monsters of Norso, starting with a returning favourite of mine!

Leif and Tufter still together!

Yes it’s our old friend Leif of Lacringi from The Warriors of Wishwell and he’s had quite a boost, in my opinion! It’s a very simplistic ability; you gain 2 shards whenever you deploy a card. But then you look at what this means in the bigger picture; this essentially results in all cards you deploy having a psuedo-reduction of 2 shards, so cards that seemed expensive before feel a lot more playable and all of your smaller costing cards are completely free, if not better because of their own resolves! Some that spring to mind from the previous set are the following, and I’ll admit now; it’s a happy accident I’m highlighting all Lacringi cards:

Eirik of Lacringi - I already often used to Trade an Object to make him cost less or even fully pay for him, but with Leif that cost is essentially halved which makes it feel a much better pay-off that doesn’t require as much deliberate setup (i.e. now you can use him more to recover a used Object rather than Trade one in order to get the full value out of him)

Magnus of Lacringi - As will be a common theme among these cards; when taking his resolve into account, this basically translates into a free way to Dig any Character from your Dregs (something a lot of Palettes could appreciate) that’s on a 4 strength, Hulder Troll body; which is a big bonus to any Palettes that synergise with all those qualities.

Lacringi Miner - This card already pays for itself, on top of making Objects cheaper, so why not make it so its resolve is just pure gain for you with Leif?!

Lacringi Forge - Thanks to Leif’s ability this becomes an essentially free way to Find the best Object for the situation, once you account for the resolve, can’t really go wrong with it in that situation.

Lacringi Catapult - Leif making this a completely free way to drain 2 shards from any card; Erasing smaller things easily, that then gains you more in your resolve definitely makes this card seem a lot stronger with him on the Canvas.

They’re ready to kick up a real storm!

One from an earlier spoiler - it’s Drengora, The Fierce now with the complete card fully revealed! This ability will take a little explanation so I asked for clarification before writing this. Essentially, when you go to declare an attack with Drengora, The Fierce you choose any number of Characters for them to attack and it all happens at once; each Character the opponent controls takes the damage as if it was a regular battle (so if no Objects are equipped to Drengora that’s 5 damage to each of them) then Drengora takes the full combined damage of all of the Characters it battled. Here’s a working example:

Say you’re staring down the above Characters on the opponents’ Canvas and you have Drengora, The Fierce ready to attack. When you declare your attack with them you have 2 distinct options;

1) Attack both Brigavi Thrall and Brisgavi Hunter; both will be Erased as they take 5 damage each but Drengora will survive as they only take 4 damage (the combined number).

2) You can attack all 3 Characters; all will be Erased as they take 5 each but Drengora will also be Erased as they’ve taken 9 damage total.

It’s very different to what Rage was back in The Warriors of Wishwell. In short; Drengora, The Fierce can act as a one-sided board wipe against any number of Characters an opponent controls as long as they have a shard value of 5 or less, albeit it will be at the cost of losing Drengora themselves - thats crazy right?!

Some great power-ups for Drengora!

Why not make it even more powerful; as they’re a Character, give them Protection and watch them mow down every Character (with less than 5 shards) in their path, or give them Poisonous to guarantee that every Character they attack is Erased no matter their shard value or whether they have Protection. Bit off topic here but, if anyone remembers the Dynasty Warriors series, this Character is giving me real Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate vibes!

Both of these Rares are gearing up to be fantastic additions to the arsenal that Norso already has at its disposal and that’s before we even see any of the others this set has to offer; Leif is a fantastic value piece who’s going to rival the already iconic Wishwell Market Stall that often sees plays in Traders Palettes; while Drengora, The Fierce promises to be a real threat to anyone who relies heavily on their Characters to get things done, especially if you pair it with Protection or Poisonous
