Rules update - Hunters becoming the Hunted?!

Image
Hello realmrunners and welcome back! Today I’ve got quite an exciting update as a new rules document has been released, now version 2.2, which you can read in full  here . What I really want to focus on today though is the fundamental change to, what is often regarded as, one of the weaker keywords in Achroma; Hunt . Here’s the initial ability of the keyword from when The Last Snow Dragons of Altari landed on the shelves. The need to target an opponent’s Character; have both the Hunter and target survive a full turn; along with the delay in the effect going off, put this strategy at a severe disadvantage versus others, especially since the other keyword to emerge from the set was Freeze which has become a staple in any competitively driven Draco Palette. With the new rules update there’s quite a significant change to it that could really improve its standing. See if you can spot it in the updated description below. The ability to target any Character, not just your opponent’...

Custom Palette Review - Cara’s Curdle Congregation

Image
Hello realmrunners - I’m back this week with another dive into one of my custom Palettes, this time focusing on a very basic strategy headed up one of the first Legendaries to come out, Cara Curdle . Here’s the list. The plan is quite simplistic really; throw down a lot of Characters back up with good control options to deal with anything bigger your opponent puts out and use your resolves that benefit off of your wide boardstate to hit 30 shards. Now let’s look at the individual cards. Cara Curdle - Face of the Palette. She helps you double down on your resolves while giving you a lot of prevent and making it harder for Achrom cards to interact with your Canvas. Detective Huxon - Gains you more shards the more cards you have on your canvas, perfect fit for this strategy. Detective Vraxea - Gives your smaller Characters a bit more survivability or can even allow you to be more aggressive with them.  Rabid Dog - Poisonous Character to help with board control. Sea Serpent ...

Product Review - Boosters are finally here!

Image
Hello realmrunners - today was a very special delivery day at Five Realms Gaming Lounge as, after much waiting, the new booster boxes for Achroma finally arrived. Realm Runner Studios very generously gave me a whole box to myself so I could give you guys a full account of just what you can expect out of it!  From first impressions it’s clear there’s been deeper planning behind this product than the initial run of boosters we received last year, which is great to see; the artwork is a lot more refined and the box itself is adorned with the realms’ symbols as well as a detailed blurb laying out the basic overarching story of Achroma, as well as a QR code which takes you to a Linktree  for all the relevant Achroma pages related to the game. The boosters themselves are still made from paper but they look and feel far more refined than their predecessors. But let’s move onto the main reason you’re buying these; what do you get from a full box? Each individual pack gives you 6 cards...

Competitve Talk - Objects, where do they truly shine?

Image
Hello realmrunners and welcome back! With the upcoming launch of new boosters for Chapter 1 which, I suspect, will also have with it an updated Realm Rift draft model; Objects will soon become much more in the limelight than they currently are. So this got me thinking - every realm has its own way that Objects are important to it and how each one interacts with them is very different across the lot so I thought I’d take a bit more of a dive into what each one looks for currently and the stand-out ones, for me, from each realm. Realmless Let’s start with the section relevant to every realm - the realmless Objects, known as the Realm Relics, that have a few shining stars among them. Cintimani Stone - You either love it or love to hate it. I’ve already done an article going into the details of why this Object is so infamous  here . There’s nothing much more to add really, if your Palette only plays a single Object, chances are it’s this one right here. Club of Dagda  - Getting t...
