Competitive Talk - Combo’ing Pairs

 Good day realmrunners and happy Valentine’s Day!

In the spirit of all things couple-y I thought I’d just quickly highlight a few pairs of cards that go really well together as a combo! So without further ado, in realm order, here we go.

Salum

Countess Issadora Curdle & Occultist Den - Makes Issadora easy Trade fodder or means she effectively pays for herself.

Moonveil Harpy & The Bay of Mysteries - With harpy being a ‘Sea’ Character you can Dig it easily to replay it and get repeatable value out of its Action.

Captain Cassius & Hinkley the Navigator - Cassius gives all your Characters Divert, Hinkley does the same for your Locations which means Cassius then effectly gives you +1 for almost every card on your Canvas and they can protect each other from targeting abilities.

Summon the Kraken & Dark Rainbow - Rainbow curses all your opponents cards then Kraken lets you steal them all for the turn.

Draco

Crackle & Ice Breaker - Freeze all your cards to give Crackle a strong resolve then break all your cards out of the Freeze before resolving their effects.

Fibron & Snowdrift Sanctuary - Turn a once per turn double Freeze into removal.

Materno & Scathers - Turn Scathers into a real threatvto your opponent’s Characters; it’ll survive any combat due to Materno’s Protection but Erase anything it hits due to its Poisonous. 

Materno & Dexter - Materno gives your smaller Characters Protection, Dexter extends it to all Dragons which includes Materno.

Umbra Aqueous & Dyrnwyn - Gives your drake the ability to attack Locations plus, as long as it Erases whatever it attacks, you’ll gain its Shard Value to your bank.

Spirata

Mrs Potts & Spiral Traitorious - Similar to Issadora & Occultist Den.

Chromatic Infusion & Giant Prism - Play Infusion first so you draw a card whenever you Erase an achrom Character then play Prism to get them all at once so you gain shards and draw cards.

The Unruly & Thrash - Every time an Object is deployed, including by your opponent, you get to Erase a card plus, thanks to The Unruly, you also steal a shard each time too.

King Craven Traitorius & Nocturno - Craven makes it so the only way anyone can gain shards is by Trading, Nocturno stops your opponent from doing that, completely shutting down any way for them to gain shards.

Norso

Knut & Trader’s Lifeline - With both in play you draw 2 cards for every card you Trade.

Chieftain Snorre of Brisgavi & Cave Spider - Similar combo to Materno & Scathers but more conditional; Snorre gives Protection on the first attack so Cave Spider can freely hit anything.

Brynhild of Brisgavi & Brynhild’s Cookpot - Giving all your Characters Rage basically turns Cookpot into a drain for each Character you control.


This is by no means an exhaustive list - there are plenty of combos from every realm that can make massive impacts in a game - what are some of your favourites or strongest pairings or is there cards you wish had another to compliment them?

A First Look - Monsters of Norso

 Hello and welcome realmrunners! As we’re now well into sneak peek season for the up and coming Monsters of Norso the content creators of the community are starting to get our own individual cards to look over. So here’s the first piece I have - just some artwork to get us started off; The Minotaur’s Domain . Along with the artwork I’ve got the following little bit of lore to go with it - “The Minotaur resides here when he isn't out wandering the labyrinth.”  So what we know for sure is that it’s a Location that directly relates to ‘The Minotaur’ whom I suspect features in the set’s cover art. First impression I get from this art is that it’s very dark and misty, so most likely Achrom-leaning if not fully Achrom. It’s also giving me a very similar sort of feel to cards like Murky Manor  or Throne Room from the other realms; a very foreboding and shadowy building that’s most likely to be related to a very dark Character. Custom Palette Showcase - New Model Pixie Army

Hello realm runners and welcome to yet another breakdown of one of my custom Palettes! Today I thought I’d look at one of my old favourite legendaries from the first Spirata set, The Fall of Flutterby, and suit him up with the support we received in the newer set. So here he is, leading the Pixies, it’s Spiral Traitorius . The strategy is pretty simple for this one really; put down a lot of Pixies then use Spiral Traitorius or Achrom Factory to get a big Steal or Drain to win with a healthy amount of cards to help you control the Canvas. So let’s look at the cards themselves. Spiral Traitorius - Here to rack up a strong resolve. Every Character you’re looking to deploy boost it so shouldn’t be hard to get him to pay for himself the turn he’s deployed. Sorrono - Strong Pixie that allows you to answer multiple cards and has a decent resolve. Wincey Rustwhether - Painter that draws a card when deployed and gives you a good source of shards. Competitive Talk - What are ‘Staples’?

Hello to you all and welcome to another of my Competitive Talk articles!  Today I want to delve into an area that people less experienced with card games might not be so familiar with but it’s something that, no matter the game is always present especially on the tournament scene - ‘ Staples ’. In every card game ever created there are always certain cards that stick out as being incredibly versatile and generic in what they can do so you’ll find them appear in most, if not all, of the strongest decks within the game. Achroma is no exception to this pattern; whilst the separation of palettes into the different Realms makes wide arcing staples less frequent, within each one there are stand-out cards that I’d always be looking to fit into my palettes regardless of the overall theme of it if I was looking to make it a top tier build.  I know I’ve already talked through a few of these cards in more detail in my Card Highlight series but I thought that, as the game grows, it alway...
