Keyword Highlight - Rage

Hello guys and welcome to another Keyword Highlight article!

This week I'm going to be going into the first keyword I actually had exposure to when I found Achroma, as I was drawn to the Brisgavi faction from their artwork and lore, which is the very aggressive Rage. Here's the definition from the website.

Whilst it sounds relatively basic at first, Rage has a few niche technicalities that you should consider. First of all the ability stacks; if a card has 2 or more instances of Rage it gains that many more attacks. So if you had a Brisgavi Raider as well as Brynhild of Brisgavi on the canvas then the Brisgavi Raider would have 3 attacks.

However there is always a downside; in this case, as stated in the definition, it's the fact that your standard attack is used up first. So say you had any character equipped with Brisgavi Fishing Spear that attacks into a 2 strength character; although your character would survive the combat the item would break and, since it was giving you Rage, you would lose the ability and therefore not be able to attack a second time.
It's also an important thing to note that you, of course, still take damage from each attack so although on paper it seems a fantastic ability, if your opponent has a lot of 2 strength or stronger characters up, you might find you're unable to fully utilise your Rage ability without losing a character which isn't always a beneficial situation to you. This can be worked around, to an extent, by using Chieftain Snorre of Brisgavi as your legendary as he provides your characters with Protection during their first attack.

One interesting thing to note is that there is the object Brynhild's Cookpot found in the Rise of the Realm Runner expansions which turns all of your Rage characters into, potentially, massive drain. So although this might not seem like the intended use for the keyword, I've found this is actually one of the strongest available, especially when combined with Gunnar of Brisgavi and Achrom Breach to further increase your exponential drain.

That's all from me for now guys!
